Michael views the therapy space as a warm and comforting environment where clients can feel safe and empowered to explore themselves and address any concerns they may want to work on. He is committed to fostering genuine connections with people from all walks of life, holding a nonjudgmental, person-centered approach to therapy. He believes that clients know themselves best and strives to learn from clients’ perspectives, values, and worldviews to tailor therapy in ways that are best suited for each individual. Michael values the importance of fostering a supportive therapeutic relationship as the driving force of healing, resilience, and growth.
Michael is a trauma-informed clinician who primarily practices from a person-centered and culturally-informed foundation, while integrating other approaches such as narrative therapy, solution-focused therapy, and existential therapy. He has supported clients in navigating anxiety, depression, grief, life transitions, family conflict, relationships, stress, substance use, and anger management. As a first-generation Ethiopian-American, he also has an interest in working with underserved populations, such as BIPOC clients, immigrants, and adult children of immigrants.
Michael is a Licensed Graduate Professional Counselor (LGPC) who received his Master of Science degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Johns Hopkins University and his Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from Towson University.
